Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI)
Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI)
Slip rings consist of wires rotating slightly off centerline; therefore, they can be susceptible to magnetic fields. If a magnetic field is present, it can induce small currents in the rotating wiring. This may show up in the data as 1/rev sinusoidal noise. All adapting hardware and engine hardware should be non-magnetic or degaussed prior to assembly. The use of twisted pair, shielded lead wires should be used for input and output wire harnesses to reduce the effects of electro-magnetic fields.
